The logarithmic spiral commonly occurs in nature, and always keeps the same form, no matter how large it gets. Such unique formulations can also be observed in an assortment of places that are not so wee, up to and including spiral galaxies, tropical cyclones, Romanesco broccoli, and pictures of fractals in my math textbooks. …Ok, but actually look up that broccoli. You will not regret this.
